Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background and Objective, Methods, Key Findings and Limitations, and Conclusions and Clinical Implications, and it must end with a Patient Summary in two or three short plain-English sentences.
Manuscript Manuscript text is limited to 2750 words including the abstract but excluding references, tables, figures, advancing practice section, and legends, and the body text must not exceed 2500 words. Text must be divided into Introduction, Materials (Patients) and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. Manuscript must include a take home message of 2 or 3 sentences and no more than 40 words, a 'What does the study add?' section of 3 to 4 sentences, and an AI-use disclosure statement at the end of the core manuscript before the References list if generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in writing.
References References are limited to 40. References must follow AMA format. References must be listed in the order cited in the text, list all authors when there are up to six, and list the first three authors followed by et al when there are more than six.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures are limited to five in total, each figure may have no more than four subparts, and additional tables, figures, or appendices must be submitted as supplementary material. Results with tables and figures must be included in the manuscript for unformatted first submissions.
