Addictive Behaviors is an international peer-reviewed journal publishing human research on addictive behaviors and disorders since 1975. It accepts full-length papers and short communications on substance-related addictions and behavioral addictions involving gambling and technology, with emphasis on empirical behavioral and psychosocial research across psychology, sociology, psychiatry, epidemiology, social policy, medicine, pharmacology, and neuroscience. The journal also encourages scholarly commentaries, systematic reviews, mini reviews, innovative empirically oriented case studies, and multimedia papers.

Full-Length Papers

Abstract An abstract is required for Full-Length Papers. The abstract must be 250 words.

Manuscript Full-Length Papers should be no longer than 3500 words, excluding the title page, references, tables and figures. The manuscript must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. The submission must include 1 to 7 English keywords, 3 to 5 article highlights submitted as a separate editable file, and a generative AI declaration section before the references if such tools were used in manuscript preparation.

References In-text citations should follow American Psychological Association, Seventh Edition (2020) style. References may be submitted in any consistent style but must include core bibliographic details, and the reference list must be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically.

Figures & Tables Tables must appear in the anonymized manuscript, while figures and other artwork must be uploaded as separate files. Tables must be editable text rather than images and include captions, and all figures and tables must be cited in the text and numbered in order of appearance.
