Nutrition Research accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Original Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. The cover letter should briefly state the study's aim, main findings, fit with the journal's scope, novelty, and broader implications, and should not include funding information, author declarations, or suggested or opposed reviewers.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured and not include headings. The abstract must communicate the rationale and hypothesis, brief methodology and model system, clear results, and integrated conclusions addressing the hypothesis and relevance to human nutrition without overgeneralizing the work.
Manuscript The main text must not exceed 6,000 words excluding references. The manuscript must include a Title Page, Abstract, Graphical Abstract and Legend, Highlights, Manuscript File, Tables and/or Figures, Legends to Figures, and an introduction that provides the rationale, a testable directional hypothesis, and a conclusion on how the work advances the field. Highlights are required, 5 to 10 English keywords are required, and any use of generative AI in manuscript preparation must be declared in a new section placed before the references.
References References must use a numbered square-bracket citation style. References must be numbered in the order of appearance, list the first 6 authors followed by 'et al.' when there are more than 6 authors, and use LTWA journal abbreviations.
Figures & Tables Tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, while figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be editable text rather than images, and each table and figure must be cited in the text, numbered consecutively, and provided with a caption or legend.
