Original Manuscripts

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Original Manuscripts. Abstract must not exceed 275 words. Abstract must be structured using the headings Background & Aims, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Abstract must use the headings Background & Aims, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Original Manuscripts must not exceed 6000 words including the abstract, references, tables, and figure legends. Manuscript must be arranged as Title page, Abstract, Impact and Implications, Introduction, Materials and methods or Patients and methods, Results, Discussion, Abbreviations, Acknowledgements, References, Tables, Figure legends, and Figures. Manuscript must include Impact and Implications of 3 to 4 sentences, a methods section highlighting key methods, 3 to 12 keywords on the title page, an author contributions statement and AI declaration before the references if applicable, and revised Original Manuscripts must include 3 to 5 highlights submitted in a separate editable file with each bullet no longer than 85 characters including spaces.
References Original Manuscripts must not exceed 100 references. References must be ordered as they appear in the text, include article titles, include all authors unless there are more than three in which case the first three are followed by et al., and web references must include the full URL and access date.
Figures & Tables Original Manuscripts may include a maximum of 8 tables and/or figures. Tables must be included as a separate section at the end of the manuscript, figure legends must be listed in the text document separate from the figure files, and figures are uploaded separately. Figure legends must not exceed 100 words.

Review Articles

Manuscript order is title page, abstract, impact and implications, introduction, materials and methods or patients and methods, results, discussion, abbreviations, acknowledgements, references, tables, figure legends, and figures. Review articles should include 5 to 10 key points, 3 to 4 Impact and Implications sentences, 3 to 12 keywords on the title page, and an AI-use declaration before the references if generative AI was used.
References Review articles must not exceed 150 references. References must be numbered in the order cited in the text, include article titles, list all authors unless there are four or more in which case only the first three are followed by et al., and web references must include the full URL and access date.
Figures & Tables Review articles should include no more than 8 tables and/or colored figures. Tables must appear as a separate section at the end of the manuscript, and figure legends must be included in the text document separate from the figure files.
