Journal of Health Economics publishes economic analyses that deepen understanding of the value, production, or distribution of health or healthcare. It seeks original research that advances knowledge in health economics or informs health policy, covering topics such as health services production and financing, determinants of health, health behavior and inequality, healthcare costs and payments, competition and regulation, pharmaceuticals, and economic evaluation of health policies or programs.

Original Research

Cover Letter Submission must include author approval for publication and a declaration of any generative AI use in manuscript preparation.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured. Abstract must briefly state the purpose of the research, principal results, and major conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript may be of any length. Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined sections using headings. Manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, declarations of funding and competing interests, and a declaration of any generative AI use in manuscript preparation.
References References must use a numbered style with citations indicated by numbers in square brackets. References must be numbered in order of appearance and include core bibliographic details, with journal names abbreviated according to LTWA.
Figures & Tables Tables are included with the manuscript as editable text, while figures must be uploaded as separate files. Tables must be editable text with captions and citation in the text, and figures must be numbered, cited in the text, and accompanied by captions.
