Review Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required and must be 100–120 words. Abstract must be 100–120 words.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 3500 words, excluding boxes, tables, figure legends, abstract, and references. Manuscript must begin with a brief accessible introductory section using a content-specific heading rather than “Introduction” and end with a section titled “Concluding Remarks” or “Concluding Remarks and Future Perspectives.” Manuscript must include 3–5 Highlights bullets of no more than 900 characters uploaded as a separate Word file, an Outstanding Questions Box of no more than 2000 characters uploaded as a separate Word file, at least two and no more than six keywords, a declaration of interests section, and a “Declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process” section if AI was used in scientific writing.
References References are limited to 80. References must be numbered in square brackets in order of appearance and listed in citation order rather than alphabetically.
Figures & Tables Review Articles may contain up to six total additional elements across figures, tables, and text boxes, and may include either one Key Figure or one Key Table but not both. Figures must be supplied as separate files, while tables must be prepared in Word and submitted as part of the main document. Figure legends must include a short explanatory title and be limited to 250 words, and tables must have a single-sentence title with no legend.

Figures & Tables Letters may include one additional element consisting of a figure, table, or text box, and each text box is limited to 200 words. Letter figures must be supplied as separate image files, while letter tables must be prepared in Word and submitted as part of the main document. Figures and tables must be cited in the main text, figures must have a legend under “Figure Legend” in the main text file, tables must have a single-sentence title with abbreviations footnoted using superscript lowercase letters and no legend, and text boxes must have a single-sentence title of ideally up to 8 words.
