Brain Research Bulletin (BRB) is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes novel, scientifically accurate research across all aspects of neuroscience research. It accepts clinical and behavioral papers only when they demonstrate an impact on a process or processes in the brain. The journal covers areas including aging neuroscience, computational neuroscience, mechanisms of behavior and cognition, neurodevelopmental disorders, psychiatric disorders, neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory disorders, neurogenetics, neuroimmune and neuro-glia interactions, neuropharmacological mechanisms and neurotherapeutics, stem cells and neural repair, neuroimaging, translational and clinical neuroscience, and multidisciplinary brain research.

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A concise and factual abstract is required.
Manuscript The manuscript must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. Authors must provide 1 to 7 English keywords, article highlights, and a separate acknowledgements section directly before the reference list, and generative AI use in manuscript preparation must be declared upon submission.
References References must be cited in the text by numbers in square brackets. Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list and every reference list entry must be cited in the text, with complete author, title, year, volume, article number or pagination details included where applicable.
Figures & Tables Figures, images, diagrams and other artwork must be supplied as separate files, and tables must be submitted as editable text. Research Articles that include western blots must show full-length western blots in supplemental figures, and all bar graphs must include scatter plots.

The cover letter must state whether the protocol was followed exactly as agreed, explain any deviations and when they were agreed with the journal and why they occurred, include the raw data location if the data are in a public repository, and for studies published only as stage II with Elsevier it must briefly outline the scientific basis and contribution of the study.
Abstract An abstract is required. Unstructured.
Manuscript The manuscript must include Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion sections. The title must use the format "<Insert same title as stage I> [Registered Report - stage II]", the manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, article highlights, and a generative AI use declaration, and the Introduction and Methods must reference the stage I protocol while the Methods must also indicate deviations in a table with the headers Agreed Method, Deviation, and Reason.
