JACC: Basic to Translational Science is an open access specialist journal in the JACC family that serves as a forum for translational cardiovascular medicine and aims to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into therapies that improve outcomes for patients with or at risk for cardiovascular disease. Areas of interest include pre-clinical research, clinical trials, personalized medicine, novel drugs, devices and biologics, proteomics, genomics and metabolomics, and early phase clinical trial methodology.

Original Research Paper

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must state that the paper is not under consideration elsewhere, that its contents have not been previously published, that all authors have read and approved the manuscript, disclose any potential conflicts of interest including any AI contributions, identify the corresponding author, and substantiate each author's contribution if there are more than 4 authors.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. The structured abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must be presented in 5 paragraphs with the headings Objectives, Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 5,500 words including references and figure legends. The manuscript must be arranged as title page, structured abstract and key words, condensed abstract, abbreviations list, text, acknowledgments if applicable, Funding Sources, references, figure titles and legends, and tables, with the text structured as Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. The manuscript must include key words, a condensed abstract, an abbreviations list, clinical implications and translational outlook recommendations after the text and before the acknowledgments and references, 3 to 5 highlights on the title page, individual author contribution disclosures, and any required AI declaration statement immediately before the references.
References References must be identified in the text by Arabic numerals in parentheses and listed consecutively in order of mention, using Index Medicus journal abbreviations, inclusive page numbers, no periods after authors' initials, and listing all authors if 6 or fewer or the first 3 followed by et al if more than 6.
Figures & Tables Figure legends must be provided on separate pages from the text and tables must be on separate sheets, while figure titles and legends and tables are included at the end of the manuscript arrangement. Every figure and table must be cited in the text in numerical order, all figures must have a title and legend, and all tables must have a title.

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must state that the paper is not under consideration elsewhere, that its contents have not been previously published, that all authors have read and approved the manuscript, disclose any potential conflicts of interest including a statement if none exist, specify the corresponding author, substantiate each author's contribution if there are more than 4 authors, disclose any artificial intelligence contributions, and explain how the submission differs from existing reviews on the subject.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must be unstructured and must not exceed 5000 words. The abstract must be unstructured. No mandatory abstract headings are specified.
Manuscript The text should be structured as Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion, with headings and subheadings in the Methods, Results, and particularly Discussion sections. The manuscript must include clinical implications and translational outlook recommendations after the text and before the acknowledgments and references, and if AI tools were used in manuscript preparation, a declaration section must be placed immediately above the references.
References References must be cited by Arabic numerals in parentheses and numbered consecutively in order of mention, with all authors listed if 6 or fewer or the first 3 followed by et al if more than 6.
