Biological Psychology

Biological Psychology publishes original scientific papers on neural, endocrine, immune, and other physiological aspects of psychological states and processes, including assessments by biochemistry, electrophysiology, and neuroimaging during psychological experiments as well as biologically induced changes in psychological function. The journal focuses primarily on work with human individuals, may consider animal work conceptually related to human biological psychology, and welcomes interdisciplinary empirical, methodological, and theoretical reports as well as special issues on selected topics.

Empirical Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must briefly state the main contribution of the report.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract structure type is not specified.
Manuscript Empirical Articles should typically not exceed 10,000 words. Empirical Articles must use the standard sections Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. The manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, article highlights of 3 to 5 bullet points, and a generative AI use statement in a section before the references when applicable.
References In-text citations should follow American Psychological Association style. The reference list must be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically, with same-year works by the same author distinguished by letters after the year.
Figures & Tables Figures must be supplied as separate files, and tables must be submitted as editable text. All figures and tables must be cited in the manuscript text, numbered consecutively, and provided with captions.
