Original Research

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Original Research articles. Abstract must be 250–300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract should use the headings Objectives, Design, Setting, Participants, Interventions, Main outcome measures, Results, Conclusions, and Registration.
Manuscript Original Research articles are recommended not to exceed 4,000 words. Manuscript should include an abstract followed by the main text under appropriate headings and subheadings, and Original Research titles should include the research question and the study design or review type. Manuscript must include key messages after the abstract using the headings 'What is already known on this topic', 'What this study adds', and 'How this study might affect research, practice or policy', and keywords should use MeSH descriptors.
References References must follow BMJ reference style using Vancouver style. References must be numbered sequentially in the text and reference list, list the first three authors followed by 'et al' if applicable, and include the article title and DOI or PubMed ID.
Figures & Tables Original Research articles may include up to five figures and tables. Tables should be placed in the manuscript where first cited, while figures must be uploaded as separate files and figure legends provided at the end of the manuscript. Tables should be in Word format and cited in numerical order in the text.
