Brain Topography

Brain Topography is a journal of cerebral function and dynamics that publishes clinical and basic research on cognitive neuroscience and functional neurophysiology using imaging techniques including EEG, MEG, fMRI, TMS, diffusion imaging, spectroscopy, intracranial recordings, lesion studies, and related methods. It encourages submissions combining multiple techniques, reports of innovative methodologies, and studies of brain-region function with clear relevance to humans. The journal publishes full-length Original Articles, Brief Communications, Reviews, and Editorials.

Full-Length Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 150 to 250 words.
Manuscript Full-Length Original Articles have no length limit. Manuscript should include Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References, Tables, Figure legends, and Appendices if needed after the title page and abstract. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, a disclosure statement, a data availability statement describing what data are available, where they can be found, and any applicable access terms, and declarations sections including Statements and Declarations or Declarations with competing interests, funding, and authors’ contribution statements, and any non-relevant declarations headings should be included with 'Not applicable', and any use of a Large Language Model must be documented in the Methods section or a suitable alternative part of the manuscript.
References References must be cited in the text by name and year. Reference list must include only works cited in the text that have been published or accepted for publication and must be alphabetized by the last name of the first author, with DOIs given as full DOI links when available.
Figures & Tables Full-Length Original Articles have no restriction on the number of illustrations or tables. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text unless file size causes upload problems, in which case large figures may be submitted separately. Tables and figures must be numbered in Arabic numerals and cited in consecutive numerical order, each table must have a caption, and each figure must have a concise caption provided in the manuscript text file rather than in the figure file.

Brief Communications should include an Introduction of 250–500 words and may combine the Results and Discussion into a single section. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, a statement documenting any Large Language Model use in the Methods or another suitable section, and a declarations section including competing interests and authors' contribution statements.
References References must be cited in the text by name and year in parentheses. Reference list entries must include only cited published or accepted works and must be alphabetized by the last name of the first author.
