Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. The cover letter must explain the paper’s significance and fit with the journal, include the statements confirming exclusive consideration and all authors’ approval, and for expanded conference papers disclose that the submission is based on a conference paper and what has changed from the original.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. The abstract should be around 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Background/Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript There is no maximum length restriction provided the text is concise and comprehensive. The manuscript must include front matter with Title, Author list, Affiliations, Abstract, and Keywords; main sections Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions; and back matter including Supplementary Materials, Author Contributions, Funding, Data Availability Statement, Acknowledgments, Conflicts of Interest, and References. A one-paragraph Simple Summary of no more than 150 words, 3 to 10 keywords, a short author-contributions paragraph for multi-author papers, and any applicable generative AI use disclosure in the Materials and Methods section must be included.
References Articles should have more than 30 references. References may be in any consistent style at initial submission, but they must be numbered in order of appearance and listed individually at the end of the manuscript.
Figures & Tables All figures, schemes, and tables must be inserted into the main text close to their first citation. All figures, schemes, and tables must be numbered in order of appearance and accompanied by a short explanatory title and caption, and Western blot figures must additionally have densitometry readings or intensity ratios and whole blots with all bands and molecular weight markers provided in the supplementary materials.
