A cover letter must be uploaded separately.
Abstract
An abstract is required in the anonymized manuscript. Abstract must be limited to 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Research Question, Study Design and Methods, Results, and Interpretation.
Manuscript
Text must be limited to 3,200 words, excluding abstract, references, figure legends, and tables. Manuscript must include an unlabeled Introduction/Background section and the headings Study Design and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Interpretation, with no more than 8 subheadings. Manuscript must include keywords, an alphabetical abbreviations list with full definitions, Take-Home Points consisting of one sentence each for Study Question, Results, and Interpretation, and a Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process section when such tools were used.
References
References must be limited to 50. References must follow AMA Manual of Style. In-text references must be superscript numerals numbered consecutively in order of appearance, and full citations must be listed in numerical order.
Figures & Tables
Figure files must be uploaded separately, while tables must be included in the anonymized manuscript. Figures and tables must be numbered and cited in consecutive order in the text.
