Chinese Medicine is an open access journal publishing evidence-based, scientifically justified research and review papers in all aspects of Chinese medicine, including chemistry, biology, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, engineering, clinical applications and socioeconomics relevant to Chinese medicine. It particularly welcomes interdisciplinary studies and is the official journal of the International Society for Chinese Medicine, based in Macau and sponsored by Fundação Macau.

Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published, explain any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved submission, and confirm the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, and for applicable human intervention studies also a Trial registration section.
Manuscript Manuscript must include a title page, a Methods section, and a Declarations section with the specified subheadings, with non-applicable declarations labeled 'Not applicable'. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and documentation of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section or another suitable part of the manuscript.
References References must use Vancouver style. Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and public preprints may be cited; unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list, journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE, and URLs must be numbered and listed in full with site title and access date.
Figures & Tables Figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript while tables under one page may be placed in the manuscript and larger tables may be placed at the end with callouts in the text. Figures must be numbered in text order and uploaded in that order, multi-panel figures must be submitted as single composite files, tables must be numbered and cited in sequence, and tables must be created with the word processor's Table object rather than embedded as figures or spreadsheets.

References Brief Reports must include no more than 10 references. References must follow Vancouver style. Web links and URLs must be assigned a reference number and included in the reference list in full, journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE, and unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not be included in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Brief Reports may include up to 1 figure and table in total. Figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript rather than in the graphic file, tables shorter than one page may be placed within the manuscript, and tables longer than one page may be placed at the end of the document.
