Original Research

Abstract Original Research manuscripts must include a structured abstract of 300 words. The abstract must be 300 words. The abstract must be structured as four labeled paragraphs. The abstract must use the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Basic Original Research main text is limited to 4500 words and Clinical Original Research main text is limited to 3500 words, excluding references. The manuscript must include a title page, structured abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, disclosures, funding, acknowledgments, author contributions, data sharing statement, references, tables with legends, figure legends in the manuscript text file, and optional supplemental material PDF. Original Research manuscripts must include 3 key points.
References Original Research references have no limit. References must follow American Medical Association citation style. Reference lists must include all authors unless there are more than 6 authors, in which case the first 3 authors should be listed followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Original Research manuscripts may include up to 6 figures and up to 6 tables. Figures may be included in the main manuscript file for initial submission, and figure legends and tables with legends must be included in the manuscript text file while figures are submitted as individual figure files.
