Current Opinion in Pharmacology publishes authoritative, comprehensive, and systematic reviews that synthesize current advances in pharmacology and drug discovery. The journal covers a broad range of human systems and particularly welcomes submissions related to cancer, immunomodulation, anti-infectives, metabolic disorders, neurological and psychiatric disorders, emerging technologies, and gender and aging. It supports both invited submissions and a spontaneous submission option through the General Pharmacology submission portal.

Current Opinion In Pharmacology is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Short Reviews

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Short Reviews must be limited to 2500 words excluding abstract, references, and figure captions. Short Reviews should present the most important recent developments in the subject, focusing on the last 2 years and providing short annotations to notable papers from the previous year. Short Reviews must include 1 to 7 keywords in English, a declaration statement before the references if generative AI tools were used in manuscript preparation, and the exact text “References and recommended reading. Papers of particular interest, published within the period of review, have been highlighted as: * of special interest ** of outstanding interest” under the reference section.
References Short Reviews should include approximately 50 references, with self-citations not exceeding 20% of the total. References must use a numbered style with citations indicated by numbers in square brackets. References must be numbered in order of appearance, list the first 6 authors followed by 'et al.' when there are more than 6, include at least 10% annotated papers marked * or ** from the past 2 years with annotations only in the reference list, and use LTWA journal abbreviations.
Figures & Tables Short Reviews must include no more than 4 tables or figures in total and must include at least one figure. Figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript, while tables must be submitted as editable text. All figures and tables must be cited in the manuscript text, numbered according to appearance, and provided with captions.
