Submission Instructions

Surgical Clinics of North America is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Review Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A one-paragraph synopsis is required. Synopsis must be 100 words or fewer. Synopsis must be unstructured as a single paragraph.
Manuscript Manuscript length should typically be 4000-6000 words, including the title page, key points, text, references, and figure legends but excluding tables, boxes, and figures. Manuscript must follow the specific template provided in the welcome email. Manuscript must include 3-5 key points, 3-8 keywords, an Acknowledgements section, conflict-of-interest disclosures including funding sources, a statement of no disclosures when applicable, and disclosure of any AI or AI-assisted writing use.
References References must use AMA style. References must be cited numerically in the text and ordered numerically.
Figures & Tables Figures must not be embedded in Word documents and must be uploaded as separate files in the Figures tab in EMSS. Figures, tables, boxes, and videos must be numbered consecutively and mentioned in the text, with legends required for every figure and video and titles required for every table and box.
