Journal of Pharmacological Sciences is an international open access journal and the official journal of the Japanese Pharmacological Society. It publishes work across experimental and clinical pharmacology, including molecular, cellular, biochemical, physiological and behavioral pharmacology. The journal welcomes Reviews, Full Papers, and Short communications, with review articles accepted only when requested by the editors.

Reviews
Cover Letter
A one-page typed synopsis must be enclosed before submission for unsolicited Reviews after consulting one of the editors. The enclosed pre-submission synopsis for unsolicited Reviews must be one typed page.
Abstract
Each Review must include an abstract. Abstract must not exceed 200 words.
Manuscript
Review manuscripts must include a running title of no more than 40 characters including spaces, 5 keywords or short phrases for indexing, and an AI disclosure statement at the end of the manuscript before the references if generative AI tools were used.
References
References must be cited as consecutive superscript Arabic numerals in the text and listed in numbered order of appearance.
Figures & Tables
Tables must not be inserted in the running text and figures and tables must each be displayed on separate pages within the text file. Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals.
Full Papers

Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract
Abstract is required for Full Papers. Abstract must be 200 words.
Manuscript
Full Papers must include a title page, abstract, Introduction section, and References section. Full Papers must include keywords, with 5 keywords or short phrases for indexing, and any use of generative AI in manuscript preparation must be disclosed in a statement placed at the end of the manuscript before the references list.
References
References must be cited in the text using consecutive superscript Arabic numerals and listed in numbered order of first appearance.
Figures & Tables
Tables must be placed on separate pages rather than inserted in the running text, and the text file must include figure legends and tables. Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals and each displayed on a separate page.
Critical Reviews
