EJNMMI Research is a high-visibility open access journal focused on new basic, translational, and clinical research in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. It publishes original research articles, rapid communications of preliminary data, case reports, editorials, and letters to the editor, with an emphasis on targeted imaging with radiopharmaceuticals, molecular probes, biological processes underlying disease, and new treatment modalities including radionuclide therapy.

Original Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published in EJNMMI Research, address any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved the submission, and confirm the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must include Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and a Declarations section. Manuscript must include 3 to 10 keywords, define abbreviations at first use with a list of abbreviations if used, and document any use of a Large Language Model in the Methods section or another suitable section if Methods is unavailable.
References Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and publicly available e-print or preprint items may be cited, unpublished abstracts/data and personal communications must not appear in the reference list, journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE, and URLs must appear as numbered references with full site title, full URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables Tables must be included in the main manuscript file, with smaller tables placed in the text and larger tables allowed at the end of the document, while figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript and figure files uploaded separately in mention order. Figures must be numbered in order of first mention and submitted as correctly oriented composite files for multi-panel figures, and tables must be numbered and cited in sequence and not submitted as figures or spreadsheet files.

Figures must be uploaded separately in permitted formats with titles and legends provided in the main manuscript, and tables must not be submitted as figures and must be created using the word processor's Table object function.

The manuscript must include a Declarations section containing Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and material, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, and Acknowledgements, with any nonrelevant section still included and stated as "Not applicable," and any use of a Large Language Model documented in the Methods section or another suitable part of the manuscript.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and publicly available preprints may be cited in the reference list, unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must be excluded, and web references must include the full site title, full URL, and access date.
