Cover Letter A cover letter is required with every submission. The cover letter must be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief and include the submission’s relevance, intended audience, rationale for publication in Environmental Health Perspectives, environmental relevance, manuscript title, author names and affiliations, and complete contact information for all authors.
Abstract Abstract requirements are not specified.
Manuscript Articles should be fewer than 7,000 words, excluding the abstract, references, tables, figure captions, acknowledgments, and Supporting Information. Articles must use clearly identified standard sections for original research, with the Discussion beginning with a brief overview of the main findings and without introducing methods or results for the first time in the Results or Discussion sections. The manuscript must be free of annotations or highlights, include a separate Hazards section when unexpected, new, and/or significant hazards or risks are associated with the work, and disclose any use of AI tools for text or image generation in the Acknowledgments section.
References References must be complete and include titles, full publication information including issue numbers where applicable, DOI, page ranges, CASSI journal abbreviations, and superscripted sequential Arabic numeral callouts in the text.
Figures & Tables Figures, charts, tables, schemes, and equations should be embedded in the text at the point of relevance. Display elements must be numbered sequentially by type, cited in the text, understandable independent of the text, multipart items assembled into a single object, with figure captions placed below figures and each table given a brief descriptive title.
