Epigenetics & Chromatin

Epigenetics & Chromatin publishes research and reviews that provide novel insights into epigenetic inheritance and chromatin-based interactions, with a focus on how gene and chromosomal elements are regulated and how their activities are maintained during cell division, differentiation, and environmental alteration. The journal is affiliated with the International Society for Molecular and Clinical Epigenetics and states that peer review is led by experienced editors.

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published in Epigenetics & Chromatin, address any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved submission, and confirm the content has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must include a title page and the sections Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and Declarations. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, include all required subsections under Declarations with 'Not applicable' where relevant, and document any use of a Large Language Model in the Methods section or another suitable section if Methods is unavailable.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and publicly available preprints may be cited, unpublished abstracts/data and personal communications must be excluded from the reference list, journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE, and web references must be numbered and listed in full with site title, URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables Figure titles and legends must appear in the main manuscript rather than in graphic files, tables shorter than one page may be placed within the manuscript, and tables longer than one page may be placed at the end with an in-text callout. Figures must be numbered in text order and uploaded in that order with multipanel figures as single composite files, while tables must be numbered and cited sequentially in Arabic numerals and must be created with the word processor's table function rather than embedded as figures or spreadsheet files.

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include Background, Main body of the abstract, and short Conclusion.
Manuscript Manuscript must include a title page, abstract, Background section, Main text section, Conclusions section, and a Declarations section. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a Declarations section with the subheadings Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and materials, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, and Acknowledgements, use 'Not applicable' for irrelevant Declarations sections, provide a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and document any use of a Large Language Model in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and publicly available e-prints or preprints may be cited; unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list; journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE; and web links and URLs must be assigned a reference number and included in the reference list with the site title, full URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables Figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript, tables shorter than one page can be placed within the manuscript, and tables longer than one page can be placed at the end of the document with their intended location cited in the text. Figures must be numbered in the order first mentioned and multi-panel figures submitted as a single composite file, while tables must be numbered and cited in sequence and created using the word processor's Table object rather than embedded as figures or spreadsheet files.
