Original Research Article
Cover Letter
Cover letter must state that neither the work nor any part of its essential substance, tables, or figures have been or will be published or submitted to another scientific journal or are being considered for publication elsewhere.
Abstract
Original Research Articles must include an abstract. Abstract must be 250 words or fewer. Abstract must be structured as four separate paragraphs. Abstract must cover the question addressed by the study, materials or patients and methods, results, and the answer to the question.
Manuscript
Original Research Articles should not exceed 3000 words excluding the abstract, references, tables, and figure captions. Manuscript should include Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections with content addressing the research question, study methods, baseline characteristics, main results, study limitations, and conclusions. Manuscript must include a title of no more than 90 characters, a title page with all authors’ names and affiliations and one corresponding author’s full contact details, a 256-character take-home message, at least 1 and no more than 6 keywords, acknowledgements after the Discussion, a separate support statement, and a conflict of interest disclosure for each author in the main text file.
References
A maximum of 40 references is permitted. References must conform to Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first appearance in the text using Arabic numerals in square brackets and must list the first three authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables
Original Research Articles must have no more than eight figures and tables combined. Tables must be inserted into the main text document before the references, while figures must be uploaded as separate files with captions entered in the submission system or added at the end of the main manuscript text. Each table must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals and include a footnote defining all abbreviations and symbols used.
Review
Cover Letter
If the Review exceeds the 5000-word limit, the cover letter must state the final word count and the reasons for exceeding the limit.
Abstract
Reviews must include an abstract. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript
Reviews have a 5000-word limit. The title must be no more than 90 characters, the title page must include a take-home message of up to 256 characters, and the manuscript must include 1 to 6 keywords.
References
Reviews may include a maximum of 200 references. References must follow Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first citation in the text and list the first three authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables
Reviews have a combined figure and table limit of 5. Tables must be inserted into the main text before the references, while figures must be uploaded as separate files. Figures should be limited to a maximum of four panels.
Mini-Review

Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript
Interactive Case Reports may be up to 3000 words excluding references, tables and figures. Interactive Case Reports should present the case in chronological order with interactive questions and explanatory answers, avoid revealing answers in the title and introductory text, and conclude with a discussion of the case and related general topics. At least 1 keyword and no more than 6 keywords are required.
References
References must conform to Vancouver style as used in Index Medicus. References must be numbered consecutively in the order first cited in the text and list the first three authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables
Figures and tables are limited by a combined total, and figures should be limited to a maximum of four panels. Tables must be inserted into the main text before the references, while figures must be uploaded as separate files. Interactive Case Reports should make full use of measurements, laboratory results and diagnostic test images.
