Thoracic Research and Practice, formerly Turkish Thoracic Journal, is a journal founded in April 2001. In 2024 it was renamed from Turkish Thoracic Journal to Thoracic Research and Practice and appears under both names in the Respiratory System category in Web of Science. Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must be Objective, Material and Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 3500 words. Main text must be organized as Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, and Discussion, with limitations, drawbacks, and shortcomings stated in the Discussion before the conclusion paragraph. Manuscript must include 3 to 5 main points and 3 to 6 MeSH keywords, and any use of AI or AI-assisted tools in writing must be disclosed in a section titled “Declaration Regarding the Use of AI and AI-Assisted Technologies.”
References References must follow AMA Manual of Style, 11th Edition. In-text citations must appear as superscript after punctuation, journal titles must use Index Medicus/MEDLINE/PubMed abbreviations, references with six or fewer authors must list all authors, and references with seven or more authors must list the first three followed by “et al.”.
Figures & Tables Tables must appear in the main document after the references, while figures must be uploaded as separate files and not embedded in the manuscript. Figure legends must be placed at the end of the main document, and each table must have a descriptive title above it.

Review Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for unsolicited review articles. The cover letter must explain the timeliness and significance of the manuscript.
Abstract Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 4000 words. Review articles must contain Introduction and Conclusion sections. The manuscript must include 3 to 5 main points in list form, 3 to 6 MeSH keywords, and a 'Declaration Regarding the Use of AI and AI-Assisted Technologies' section if AI or AI-assisted tools were used in writing.
References References and in-text citations must follow AMA Manual of Style, 11th Edition. In-text citations must appear as superscripts after punctuation, journal titles must use Index Medicus/MEDLINE/PubMed abbreviations, and references must list all authors if there are six or fewer or the first three followed by 'et al.' if there are seven or more.
Figures & Tables Tables must appear in the main document after the references, while figures must be uploaded separately and figure legends must be listed at the end of the main document. Tables must be numbered consecutively and titled above, and figures must be numbered consecutively with subunits submitted as separate files and described in the legend.

Abstract Abstract must not be included.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 400 words. Text must be unstructured. Keywords must not be included, the manuscript being commented on must be properly cited within the letter, and a declaration regarding the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies must be included if such tools were used in writing.
References References and in-text citations must follow AMA Manual of Style, 11th Edition. In-text citations must appear as superscripts after punctuation, journal titles must use Index Medicus/MEDLINE/PubMed abbreviations, and references must list all authors if there are six or fewer or the first three followed by “et al.” if there are seven or more.
Figures & Tables No tables are allowed, and up to one figure is optional. Figure legends must be listed at the end of the main document, and figures must be submitted as separate files rather than embedded in the manuscript. Figures, images, and other media should not be included, but one figure is optionally permitted.

Accepted manuscripts are published online as ahead-of-print publications before assignment to a scheduled issue. Corresponding authors are typically asked to review and approve proofs within two days. For accepted original research articles, a visual abstract is required from May 2025 and authors are granted two weeks to submit it before the article can proceed to publication.
