Respirology publishes clinical and clinically relevant experimental research articles, reviews, and opinion papers in all areas of respiratory medicine and related diseases, including asthma, bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, interventional pulmonology, lung cancer, occupational lung disease, paediatric lung disease, pleural disease, pulmonary vascular disease, respiratory infections, sleep, thoracic surgery, and tuberculosis.

Original Article

Cover Letter A cover letter must be prepared for submission.
Abstract Original Articles must include an abstract. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Background and objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript Original Articles must not exceed 3500 words excluding the summary, abstract, references, tables, and figure legends. Original Articles should be arranged under the headings Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. The manuscript must include a summary of no more than 50 words, up to 7 key words, and transparent disclosure of any AI technology use in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
References Original Articles must include no more than 50 references. References must use Chicago reference style - Note. References must be cited with superscript Arabic numerals in the order of first appearance and listed consecutively.
Figures & Tables Original Articles may include a combined maximum of 6 figures and tables. The main document must include tables, and figures may be embedded in the main document or provided separately.

Systematic Review

Abstract Systematic Reviews must include an abstract. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Systematic Reviews are limited to 3500 words excluding the abstract, references, tables and figures. The manuscript should contain a title page, summary, abstract, key words, text of the manuscript, data sharing statement, acknowledgements, references, tables and figure legends. The manuscript must include up to 7 key words and should include a PROSPERO registration number.
References Systematic Reviews must include no more than 50 references. The bibliography must use Chicago reference style - Note. References must be cited in the text, tables and legends using superscript Arabic numerals in the order in which they first appear.
Figures & Tables Systematic Reviews must have no more than 6 tables and figures combined. Tables must be included in the main manuscript document, and figures may be embedded in the main document or provided separately.
