Original Article

Cover Letter Cover letters are mandatory. Cover letter must explain why the paper should be considered for publication in the journal and state that the manuscript has not been published previously or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 200 words. Abstract must be unstructured. Abstract should state the background or rationale, objectives, methods, findings, and conclusions of the study.
Manuscript Original Articles have a recommended word limit of 5000 words. Manuscript must be organized as Introduction and Background, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, and References. Manuscript must include a Plain Language Summary as a single paragraph of no more than 100 words, and it must document any use of a Large Language Model in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References Manuscripts reporting experimental or clinical studies must cite the BCPT 2026 Policy for Experimental and Clinical Studies, and manuscripts involving natural products must cite the BCPT policy on natural products, traditional Chinese medicine, and systems pharmacology in the reference list.
Figures & Tables The main manuscript file and figure files must be submitted separately. Tables must each include a title and footnotes.

Focused Reviews

Cover Letter Cover letters are mandatory, and invited Focused Reviews must indicate the name of the person who invited the submission. Cover letters must explain why the paper should be considered for publication in the journal, state that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere, and for invited Focused Reviews include the inviter’s name.
Abstract Focused Reviews require an abstract. The abstract must be unstructured and no more than 200 words. The abstract must be unstructured. The abstract should state the background or rationale, objectives, methods, findings, and conclusions of the study.
Manuscript Focused Reviews have a 5000-word limit. The main text file must be presented in the following order: Title Page, Abstract, Plain Language Summary, Main text, Acknowledgements, Conflict of Interest Statement, References, Tables, and Figures. A Plain Language Summary is required as a single paragraph of no more than 100 words, and any use of a Large Language Model must be documented in the Methods section or another suitable part of the manuscript if no Methods section is available.
References Focused Reviews are limited to 50 references.
Figures & Tables The manuscript must be submitted in separate files for the main file and figures. Tables must each be complete with a title and footnotes.
