Minerva Respiratory Medicine is a quarterly international peer-reviewed scientific journal founded in 1962 that focuses on diseases of the respiratory system, including pathophysiology, pharmacology, interventional pulmonology, non-invasive ventilation, intensive care in respiratory diseases, obstructive and restrictive lung diseases, rare lung diseases, pulmonary oncology, pulmonary hypertension, infectious and immunologic diseases, thoracic surgery, and lung transplantation. The journal is indexed in EMBASE, Emerging Sources Citation Index, and Scopus, has an Impact Factor of 0.1, and publishes editorials, original articles, review articles, case reports, special articles, letters to the Editor, and guidelines.

Original Articles
Cover Letter
If AI-assisted technologies were used in the cover letter, that use must be described, and permission details for any reproduced figures must be provided.
Abstract
Original Articles must include a structured abstract. The abstract must be 200-250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript
Original Articles should be 3000-5500 words excluding references, tables, and figures. Original Articles must follow the IMRaD structure with Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and then Conclusions, References, and any tables and figures. The manuscript must include key words, an Authors’ contribution section including the statement “All authors read and approved the final version of the manuscript,” Notes sections for conflicts of interest and funding, and disclosure of any AI-assisted technologies in the appropriate section.
References
Original Articles may include no more than 50 references. References must follow Vancouver style. References must include only sources cited in the text and be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals in citation order, with superscript Arabic numerals used in the text.
Figures & Tables
Tables must be included in the text file, while figures must be submitted as separate files. Tables must be created with the Microsoft Word table editor and numbered in Roman numerals, and figures must be numbered in Arabic numerals with their titles also repeated in the text file.
Review Articles
Cover Letter
If AI-assisted technologies were used in the cover letter, this use must be described, and permissions for any reproduced figures must be provided with complete reference information.
Abstract
Abstract requirements are not specified.
Manuscript
Review Articles should be 6000-12000 words excluding references, tables, and figures. The manuscript must include the statement “All authors read and approved the final version of the manuscript” and disclose any AI-assisted technologies in the appropriate section.
References
Review Articles may include no more than 100 references. References must follow the ICMJE standard format, using Vancouver style when reference management software is used. References must include only cited authors, be numbered consecutively in order of citation, and be cited in the text with superscript Arabic numerals.
Figures & Tables
Tables and figures should be appropriate in number for the type and length of the paper. Tables must be submitted in the text file, while figures must be submitted as separate files. Tables must be numbered in Roman numerals with titles, and figures must be numbered in Arabic numerals with titles that are also repeated in the text file.
Systematic Reviews

A PRISMA-compliant Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion structure is strongly recommended, with a clearly defined methodological protocol, explicit inclusion and exclusion criteria, a reproducible search strategy, and quantitative data analysis where appropriate. Manuscript must include key words, the statement “All authors read and approved the final version of the manuscript,” authors’ contribution, conflicts of interest, funding, and disclosure of AI-assisted technologies in the appropriate section.
References
References must follow ICMJE standard format, using Vancouver style when reference management software is used. References must include only sources cited in the text, be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals in citation order, and be cited in the text with superscript Arabic numerals.

Manuscript
Narrative Reviews must provide a critical and up-to-date synthesis of the literature, clearly state the objectives and the criteria used for source selection, and may be organized into flexibly structured sections determined by the author. The manuscript text file must include key words, a Notes section with authors’ contribution, conflicts of interest, funding, and data availability statements, and an AI-use disclosure in the appropriate manuscript section when applicable.

Manuscript should be organized as Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, and Conclusions, with the Case Presentation covering medical history, physical examination, diagnostic assessment, therapeutic interventions, and follow-up. Manuscript must highlight originality, clinical relevance, and implications for practice, and must include the statement "All authors read and approved the final version of the manuscript" and disclosure of any AI-assisted technologies in the appropriate section.

Case Reports may include no more than 30 references. References must follow Vancouver style. References must include only works cited in the text and be numbered consecutively in superscripted Arabic numerals in ICMJE standard format.

Letters To The Editor should be 500-1000 words, excluding references, tables, and figures. Letters To The Editor must not be subdivided. The manuscript must include the statement “All authors read and approved the final version of the manuscript” and disclose any AI-assisted technologies used in the production of the work in the appropriate section of the manuscript.

Letters To The Editor may include no more than 5 references. References must follow Vancouver style. References must include only works cited in the text and be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals in the order of citation, with superscripted Arabic numerals used for in-text citations.
