Public Health Action accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Original Articles

Cover Letter All co-authors must have approved the work prior to submission.
Abstract A structured summary is required for Original Articles. The structured summary must be no more than 200 words. The abstract must be structured.
Manuscript The text must be up to 2500 words. The manuscript should include Introduction, Study population, Design and Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. The title page must include 3–5 keywords not included in the title, and authors’ contributions, sources of funding, and conflicts of interest must be clearly described.
References A maximum of 35 references is allowed. References must use Vancouver format. References must be numbered consecutively in the order cited, listed in numerical order, and use 'et al.' for more than three authors.
Figures & Tables A maximum of 5 tables and figures in total is allowed. Tables and figures must be placed at the end of the text after the references on separate pages, although figures may also be uploaded separately. Tables must be numbered in Arabic numerals with a short title and legend, and every figure must have a brief explanatory legend.

Minireview

Cover Letter All work must have been approved by all co-authors prior to submission.
Abstract A summary is required for Minireview articles. The summary must be 250 words. The summary may be structured or unstructured.
Manuscript The text must not exceed 2,000 words. The title page must include a word count and 3–5 key words not included in the title.
References Minireview articles may include up to 50 references. References must use Vancouver format. References must be numbered consecutively in the text in superscript Arabic numerals, listed in numerical order, and use 'et al.' for more than three authors.
Figures & Tables Minireview articles may include up to 5 moderate-sized tables and figures. Tables and figures must be placed at the end of the text after the references, although figures may alternatively be inserted into the Word document after the tables or uploaded separately. Tables must be numbered in Arabic numerals with a short title and legend, and every figure must have a brief explanatory legend.

Review Articles

Abstract An abstract is allowed for this article type. The summary may be up to 250 words. The summary must be unstructured.
Manuscript Headings should be appropriate to the nature of the article. The title page must include a word count and 3–5 key words not included in the title.
References References must use Vancouver format. References must be numbered consecutively in the order cited using Arabic superscript numerals, listed in numerical order, and use 'et al.' for more than three authors.
Figures & Tables Tables must be placed after the references, and figures may be inserted after the tables in the Word document or uploaded separately as image files. Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals and each must include a descriptive title or legend with abbreviations explained.
