Respiratory Investigation

Respiratory Investigation is the official English-language journal of the Japanese Respiratory Society. It publishes original manuscripts on clinical investigations of respiratory diseases and medicines, along with articles on basic physiology, pathology, and cellular and molecular biology relating to pulmonary diseases, with particular interest in disease diversity based on genetic and environmental differences between East and West.

Original Article

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be less than 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Main text must be less than 3,000 words excluding tables, figures, and references. Manuscript must be presented in the following order: Title page, Abstract and keywords, Text, Disclosure, Funding, Author Contributions, Conflict of interest, Acknowledgments, References, List of supporting information, Figure captions, Tables, Figures. Manuscript must include 4 to 5 keywords after the abstract and, if generative AI was used in manuscript preparation, a declaration in a new section before the references.
References References must be within 50. References must be cited using numbered square brackets. Reference list must be numbered in the order of appearance in the text, and references with more than 6 authors must list the first 6 followed by 'et al.'.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures must total no more than 8 combined. Tables may be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end, figures must be submitted as separate files, and figure captions must be supplied separately. Tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images.
