European Psychiatry is the official journal of the European Psychiatric Association. It is a peer-reviewed open access journal that publishes state-of-the-art research and policy updates and aims to stimulate discussion and debate among clinicians, research scientists and patient advocates in psychiatry, mental health, behavioral science, and neuroscience. It covers advances across mental health, including diagnosis and treatment and the biological underpinnings of mental, behavioral and cognitive function in clinical and general population samples.

Research Articles

Cover Letter The cover letter is required only if the manuscript draws on a thesis. If the manuscript draws on a thesis, the cover letter must inform the relevant editor of this.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must be Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 3,500 words, excluding tables, figures, abstracts, and references. Main text must be structured as Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. The manuscript must include 3–5 relevant keywords, a Conflicts of Interest declaration, and any AI-generated text use must be declared in a separate acknowledgments section or footnote with the tool name, version, dates, access details, and a full description of use.
References References must be in Vancouver format. In-text citations must be numbered in square brackets in order of citation, and the reference list must appear in numerical order at the end of the manuscript.
Figures & Tables All figures and tables must be supplied in separate files. Tables and figures must be cited in the text, numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, and accompanied by captions, and tables must be provided as editable files only.
