Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract must be limited to 40 to 60 words. Abstract must emphasize the novel hypothesis.
Manuscript Manuscript should be approximately 40,000 to 46,000 characters including spaces, with the total depending on the number of tables and figures used. Manuscript must be based on a novel hypothesis, include the novel hypothesis in the Introduction with a rationale for it, and end with a Conclusion or Summary section. Manuscript must include a 15- to 20-word summary after the abstract, 3 to 5 Key Points totaling no more than 150 words, 5 to 7 key words, disclosure of any AI use in an appropriate section, at least 1 digital content feature, continuing education credit questions, and a schematic figure illustrating the hypothesis.
References References are limited to approximately 50 at initial submission. References must follow the National Library of Medicine style. References must be cited in the text with full-size numbers in parentheses and listed in citation order rather than alphabetically.
Figures & Tables Manuscript should include no more than 7 tables and figures total. Figures and tables must be submitted separately from the manuscript text, with figure legends placed in the manuscript text file after the references and tables not embedded in the text. Brief Review articles must include a schematic figure illustrating the hypothesis.
