Original Research

Cover Letter A covering letter is required for Original Research submissions. The covering letter must include the corresponding author’s full contact details, a statement that all authors have read and approved the manuscript and meet ICMJE conditions, an explicit statement of ethical approval, and any financial or other declarable relationships including sources of support.
Abstract A brief structured abstract is required on the second page. The abstract must be no more than 200 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract should use the headings Background, Research design and methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The article body must include the sections Introduction, Patients and methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. The manuscript must include 4–6 keywords in alphabetical order, author contributions, declarations of interest in the acknowledgements, and a statement disclosing whether and how generative AI was used.
References References should be prepared using the NLM style. References must be full, comprehensive, accurate, and up to date, with primary references used where possible and unpublished data kept to a minimum.
Figures & Tables A maximum of five figures and five tables is permitted. Tables must present new information, be interpretable without reference to the text, and be supplied as editable files.

Manuscript should include 4-10 keywords in alphabetical order, article highlights as a bulleted executive summary, and a statement disclosing whether and how generative AI was used in the research and manuscript preparation process.
References Around 100 references are suggested for a full-length review. References must be prepared using the NLM style. Important references should be marked with one or two asterisks and briefly annotated, and references must be relevant, balanced, and not unfairly biased toward a particular research group, organization, or journal.
Figures & Tables Review articles may include up to 5 figures and up to 5 tables. Permission documentation for previously published figures must be uploaded alongside the manuscript.
