Expert Review of Vaccines is a MEDLINE-indexed, international peer-reviewed journal publishing research on the development, application, and clinical effectiveness of new vaccines. It covers reviews and original articles on vaccines, immune response, immunization, vaccine technologies and platforms, adjuvants, therapeutic vaccines, and vaccination for non-communicable diseases, and uses double-anonymous peer review after editorial suitability assessment. The journal converted to full Open Access from Volume 22 (2023), while previous volumes remain pay to read.

Original Research
Cover Letter
A covering letter is required for Original Research submissions. The covering letter must give the corresponding author's full contact details and include statements on originality, all authors' approval and ICMJE compliance, the body granting ethical approval, and any declarable financial or other support relationships.
Abstract
A brief structured abstract is required on the second page. The abstract must not exceed 200 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Background, Research design and methods, Results, and Conclusions, and clinical trial abstracts must also include Trial Registration.
Manuscript
The article body must include the sections introduction, patients and methods, results, discussion, and conclusions. The manuscript must include 4–6 keywords in alphabetical order, an author contributions section, an acknowledgements section, and a disclosure form.
References
References must use NLM style. References must be full and current, use primary sources where possible, and keep unpublished data or personal communications to a minimum with permission obtained for cited unpublished results or personal communications.
Figures & Tables
A maximum of five figures and five tables is permitted. Tables must be editable and figures should be used to present results clearly.

Abstract is required and must not exceed 200 words. Abstract must not exceed 200 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Introduction, Areas covered, and Expert opinion.
Manuscript
Body of the review must not exceed 7000 words. Manuscript must include Introduction, Body with numbered subsections, Conclusion placed before an additional Expert Opinion section, and the Expert Opinion section must be at least 500 words. Manuscript must include an Article Highlights section, 4–10 keywords in alphabetical order, and an annotated bibliography with important references marked by a one/two-star system and brief annotations.
References
Review articles should include around 100 references. References must use NLM style. All key relevant work must be cited in the text and listed in the bibliography, unpublished data should be kept to a minimum, and important references must be marked with one or two stars and brief annotations.

Clinical efficacy must include summary tables of Phase I/II and Phase III trial results, and Post-marketing surveillance must include a table summarizing safety outcomes in clinical trials and a table comparing the vaccine with its competitors.

Manuscript
Manuscript must be 3,000–7,000 words excluding tables, figures, and references. Manuscript must include a concise informative title with the drug and therapeutic indication, an introduction covering disease incidence and prevalence, unmet medical need and treatment guidelines with regional variations where appropriate, a section entitled Expert Opinion, and a Five-year view. Manuscript must include a brief list of keywords in alphabetical order and article highlights presented as a bulleted executive summary of the authors’ main points.

Special Reports must be 1,500-3,000 words excluding figures, tables, and references. Special Reports must include an Introduction, a body with numbered subsections, a distinct Conclusion appearing before the Expert Opinion section, and an Expert Opinion section. Special Reports must include a brief list of keywords in alphabetical order and article highlights as a bulleted list of five or six points covering the key aspects of the paper.
