Food Chemistry publishes papers on the advancement of the chemistry and biochemistry of foods and analytical methods or approaches used in food research. It considers novelty, scientific rigour, scientific advancement, and reader interest, and covers topics including food components, bioactive constituents, processing effects, additives and contaminants, and validated analytical methods related to food authenticity, origin, nutrition, physiology, microbiology, and sensory aspects.

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 150 words. Abstract should be unstructured and concise and factual.
Manuscript Research Papers must not exceed 8,000 words from introduction to conclusion, excluding references. Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections, with the abstract excluded from section numbering. Manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, 3 to 5 highlights submitted as a separate editable file with each bullet no more than 85 characters, and an AI-use declaration section before the references if generative AI was used in manuscript preparation.
References Citations and references must follow American Psychological Association style, Seventh Edition (2020). Reference list must be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically, with same-author same-year entries distinguished by letters after the year.
Figures & Tables Research Papers should include no more than 8 tables and figures combined. Tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, while figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be editable text with captions and figures must each have a caption, and all tables and figures must be cited and numbered consecutively in the text.
