Genetics Selection Evolution

Genetics Selection Evolution publishes original research on all aspects of genetics and selection in farm animal species and in other species that provide novel and relevant insights into the genetics of farm animals. It is an official journal of the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) and provides a forum for research in animal genetics. Articles are indexed in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and HAL.

Genetics Selection Evolution is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Research Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published, address any journal policy issues, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved submission, and confirm the content has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must include a title page, Abstract, Methods, Discussion, Conclusions, and a Declarations section with the required declaration subheadings. Manuscript must include a Declarations section containing Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and materials, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, Acknowledgements, and optional Authors' information, with any non-relevant section labeled 'Not applicable', and any use of a large language model documented in the Methods section or another suitable section.
References References must be formatted in Vancouver style. Only published, in-press, or publicly available e-print/preprint articles, clinical trial registration records, and abstracts may be cited; unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list; journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE; and web links and URLs must be numbered and included in the reference list in full with site title, URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables Figures must be submitted as separate image files rather than embedded in the manuscript, while tables shorter than one page may be placed within the manuscript and longer tables may be placed at the end of the document. Figures must be numbered in first-citation order and multi-panel figures submitted as single composite files, while tables must be numbered and cited in sequence using Arabic numerals and created as tables rather than embedded as figures.
