Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required if AI-assisted technologies were used. If AI-assisted technologies were used, the cover letter must describe the technologies used and their purposes.
Abstract Original Articles must include an abstract. The abstract must be unstructured and must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript The main text, consisting of Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion, must not exceed 4,000 words, and the Methods section must not exceed 500 words. Original Articles must be divided into Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and References. If AI-assisted technologies were used, the submitted paper must include a description of the technologies used and the purposes for which they were employed.
References Original Articles must not include more than 50 references. References must follow ICMJE style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first appearance, cited in the text as superscript numbers, use MEDLINE journal title abbreviations, list all authors when there are 6 or fewer and the first 3 followed by 'et al.' when there are more than 6.
Figures & Tables Original Articles must not include more than 8 figures and tables in total. At initial submission, text, tables, and figures must be combined into one PDF file. Multi-paneled figures must be supplied as one file with each panel clearly labeled, and all abbreviations, acronyms, and symbols in figures and tables must be explained in the legend or note.

Review Articles

If AI-assisted technologies were used, the cover letter must include a description of the technologies used and the purposes for which they were employed.
Abstract Review Articles must include an abstract. The abstract must be unstructured and must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript The main text must not exceed 5,000 words excluding abstract, tables, figure legends, and references. The manuscript must be arranged in the sequence Title page, Abstract, Main text, References, Tables, Figure legends, and Figures. The title page must include separate word counts for the abstract and main text and must state the number of tables, figures, and supplementary files.
References Review Articles must have no more than 100 references. References must follow ICMJE style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first appearance and cited in the text as superscript numbers, with up to 6 authors listed in full and more than 6 authors shortened to the first 3 followed by 'et al.'.
Figures & Tables At initial submission, tables and figures must be included within a single PDF file containing the manuscript text. Figure legends must provide enough detail to understand the figure and explain all abbreviations, acronyms, and symbols, and tables must have a short clear title with any needed legends placed directly below the table.

Main text must have no headings and must begin with a paragraph summarizing the rationale for the study and the major conclusions. If AI-assisted technologies were used, the submitted paper must include a description of the technologies used and the purposes for which they were employed.
References Reference list must contain no more than 15 references. References must follow ICMJE style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first appearance and cited in the text as superscript numbers, with journal titles abbreviated according to MEDLINE style and author listing as all authors for 6 or fewer or the first 3 followed by 'et al.' for more than 6.
Figures & Tables Letters may include a maximum of 3 tables and/or figures, plus up to 3 additional supplementary figures, tables, and/or videos in total. At initial submission, text, tables, and figures must be combined in one PDF file. Online Supplementary data must not include text other than figure legends and table titles.
