Original Article
Cover Letter
A cover letter is required only if generative AI technologies were used in preparing the manuscript. If generative AI technologies were used, the cover letter must include a disclosure statement describing that use.
Abstract
Original Articles must include a structured abstract. The abstract must not exceed 350 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must include the headings Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions, and Trial registration.
Manuscript
Original Articles must not exceed 4,000 words excluding references, tables, and figures. The manuscript must include Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions sections. The manuscript must include 3 to 10 keywords and a graphical abstract containing a 2 to 3 sentence summary, and if abbreviations are used they must be defined at first use with a list of abbreviations provided.
References
References must follow Chicago style. In-text citations must be numerals in square brackets, and round-parentheses numerical citations and author-year citations are not permitted.
Figures & Tables
Manuscripts may be submitted with figures and tables embedded in the editable manuscript file or as separate files, and graphical abstracts are required. Figures and tables must have legends, and the graphical abstract image must fit within 50 mm × 60 mm and be fully legible at that size.
