Original Investigation
Cover Letter
A cover letter is required. The cover letter must state whether the authors have published, posted, or submitted any related papers from the same study.
Abstract
A structured abstract is required. The abstract must be structured.
Manuscript
Text must not exceed 3000 words, excluding abstract, tables, figures, acknowledgments, references, and online-only material. Original Investigation manuscripts must include a study type. The manuscript must include 3 Key Points and must clearly describe any artificial intelligence-generated content with the tool name, version, and manufacturer.
References
References must follow AMA style. References must be numbered in the order of appearance, cited with superscript Arabic numerals, use PubMed journal abbreviations, and list up to 6 authors or editors before using the first 3 followed by "et al.".
Figures & Tables
The manuscript must include no more than 5 tables and/or figures. A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must be Importance, Objective, Evidence Review, Findings, and Conclusions and Relevance.
Manuscript
Manuscript text must not exceed 3000 words, excluding abstract, tables, figures, acknowledgments, references, and online-only material. Manuscript should be organized as Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. Manuscript must include Key Points of 75-100 words under the headings Question, Findings, and Meaning, include a table with ratings of study or evidence quality, and disclose any AI-generated or AI-assisted content with the tool details and author responsibility.

References must be numbered in order of appearance using superscript arabic numerals, not alphabetized, list up to 6 authors or editors before using 3 followed by "et al.," use PubMed journal abbreviations, and include the issue number after the volume number for journal articles.

Narrative Review
Cover Letter
A cover letter is required, and Narrative Review submissions also require a presubmission inquiry. The cover letter or presubmission materials must state whether related papers from the same study exist and should summarize the topic, provide a detailed outline, briefly summarize the extent and quality of the evidence, summarize the authorship group's expertise and publication record, and provide relevant financial conflicts of interest.
Abstract
A 3-part structured abstract is required for Narrative Review manuscripts. The abstract must not exceed 300 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Importance, Observations, and Conclusions and Relevance.
Manuscript
Narrative Review manuscripts must be 2000-3500 words. The manuscript should be organized as Abstract, Introduction, Methods if included, Discussion/Observations, and Conclusions. Key Points must not be included, and any AI-generated or AI-assisted content must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript or acknowledgment with the tool details and authors accepting responsibility.

Text must describe the methods used for data sources, study selection, data extraction, and data synthesis, and the subtitle should include "A Meta-analysis." Manuscript must include 3 Key Points and a Data Sharing Statement.

Manuscript must clearly state an objective or hypothesis, design and methods, essential features of interventions, primary and secondary outcome measures, main results, discussion of study limitations, and conclusions. The manuscript must include a clinical vignette headed "Story From the Front Lines" and a summary of the clinical issues headed "Teachable Moment." The title must reflect the specific focus, and fictional or composite accounts must not be used.
