Journal of Ethnopharmacology is the official journal of the International Society for Ethnopharmacology and focuses on the use of plants, fungi, animals, microorganisms, and minerals in traditional medicine and their biological and pharmacological effects. It publishes original research, interdisciplinary ethnopharmacological, ethnobotanical, and ethnochemical studies, anthropological and field studies, mechanistic pharmacological and toxicological investigations, relevant clinical studies, and review articles related to indigenous medical knowledge and remedies.

Original Research Articles

Abstract Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured with the headings Ethnopharmacological relevance, Aim of the study, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Abstract must include the headings Ethnopharmacological relevance, Aim of the study, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Original Research Articles should normally occupy no more than 10 printed pages including tables and illustrations. Original Research Articles should include Title, Abstract, Methods and Materials, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, and References. Manuscript must include 1 to 7 keywords in English, acknowledge co-author contributions using CRediT roles, and include an AI-use declaration in a section before the references if generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in manuscript preparation.
References References must be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically if necessary, with journal names abbreviated according to LTWA.
Figures & Tables Figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript, while tables are uploaded with the submission as editable text. Tables must be submitted as editable text with captions and notes below the table body, and all figures and tables must be cited in the text and numbered consecutively.
