Journal of Genetics and Genomics (JGG), founded in 1974 and previously known as Acta Genetica Sinica, is an international journal publishing peer-reviewed articles of novel and significant discoveries in all areas of biology and biomedicine. It publishes findings of general interest that provide significant insights into important biological processes in organisms ranging from microbes to plants, animals, and humans, with publication focused on novel discoveries, mechanistic insights, and new technologies, tools, and resources, as well as reviews and opinion articles on recent advances.

Original Research

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be no longer than 200 words.
Manuscript Total word count must be under 10,000 words, including main figure legends but excluding Materials and methods and References. Main text must include Title page, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Results, Discussion, Materials and methods, Ethics statement if applicable, Data availability, Code availability if applicable, CRediT authorship contribution statement, Conflict of interest, Acknowledgments, References, Tables if applicable, and Figure legends. Manuscript must include 5 to 7 English keywords and a declaration of generative AI use in manuscript preparation in a new section before the references if such tools were used.
References References with more than 10 authors must list the first 10 followed by et al., use abbreviated journal names followed by a dot, include complete volume and page numbers, and capitalize only the first word of the reference title.
Figures & Tables The total number of display items in the main text should in principle be no more than 6. Figures must be uploaded as separate files rather than included in the manuscript, while tables should be placed after the References section. Tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images and must include captions.
