The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry is devoted to advancements in nutritional sciences and presents experimental nutrition and clinical nutrition research at the interface with biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, and toxicology. Its scope includes in vivo and in vitro studies of mechanistic aspects of nutritional sciences, with preferred manuscripts focusing on nutrients and bioactive compounds with nutritional value derived from diets or whole foods as they relate to biochemistry, molecular biology, toxicology, immunology, physiology, and human health and disease.

Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required only for Mendelian randomization studies. For Mendelian randomization studies, the completed STROBE-MR checklist must be included in the cover letter.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured and concise and factual.
Manuscript Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections, with subsections numbered hierarchically and the abstract excluded from section numbering. Manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, a declaration of generative AI use in a new section before the references when applicable, acknowledgements in a separate section before the references, and co-author contributions using CRediT roles, while highlights of 3 to 5 bullet points and a graphical abstract are also required as separate submission files.
References References cited in the text must appear in the reference list and vice versa, references cited in the abstract must be given in full, web references must include the full URL and access date, data references must include specified dataset details and be prefixed with [dataset], and preprints must be clearly labeled.
Figures & Tables Tables must be included as editable text in the manuscript, while figures and other graphical media must be uploaded as separate files alongside the manuscript. Tables must be cited in the text, numbered consecutively, and include captions with notes below the table body, while figures must be cited in the text, numbered in sequence, and include captions.
