Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis (JPA), launched in 2011, is an official journal of Xi'an Jiaotong University. It is a monthly peer-reviewed open access journal that publishes original research articles, review papers, short communications, news, research highlights, and editorials in analysis of pharmacy, including pharmaceutical analysis, analytical techniques and methods, pharmacology, metabolism, drug delivery, cellular imaging and analysis, natural products, biosensing, biology, nanotechnology, pharmacognosy, medicinal chemistry, clinical laboratory analysis, and artificial intelligence.

Original Research Article

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Original Research Articles must be structured as Abstract, Introduction, Materials and methods/Experimental, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. The manuscript must include keywords and a declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process before the references, and mandatory highlights must be submitted separately as 3 to 5 bullet points of no more than 85 characters each.
References References must be cited consecutively in the text and tables using numbers in square brackets, numbered in order of appearance, and journal names in the reference list must be abbreviated according to LTWA.
Figures & Tables Figures must be uploaded as separate TIFF files and must not be embedded in the text, while all tables must be uploaded together as one separate editable Word file. Figure captions must be listed at the end of the main text, and tables must be provided as separate editable display items rather than images.

Review Paper

Abstract An abstract is required for Review Papers. The abstract must not exceed 300 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Articles must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. The manuscript must include keywords, mandatory highlights of 3 to 5 bullet points, a mandatory graphical abstract submitted separately, and an AI declaration section before the references if generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in writing.
References Review Papers must include no more than 150 references. References must be cited as numbered items in square brackets in the order they appear in the article.
Figures & Tables Review Papers must include no more than 10 figures and tables in total. Figures must not be embedded in the text and must be uploaded as separate files, while tables must be uploaded separately as one editable Word file. Figure captions must be listed at the end of the main text and all tables must be provided as editable separate display items.

Short Communication

Abstract A brief background and summary of fewer than 200 words must be provided in the first paragraph. The abstract-like first-paragraph background and summary must be fewer than 200 words. The abstract content is unstructured because it must appear as a brief background and summary in the first paragraph. No abstract headings are permitted because Short Communications must not include section titles such as Background, Methods, Results, or Discussion.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 2000 words excluding Abstract, References, Figures, and Tables. The article must present a brief background and summary in the first paragraph, include no other section titles such as Background, Methods, Results, or Discussion, and end with a clear conclusion in the last paragraph. Keywords are required, highlights of 3 to 5 bullet points are mandatory in a separate editable file, a graphical abstract is mandatory, and any use of generative AI in writing must be declared in a separate section before the references.
References No more than 5 references are allowed. References must be cited consecutively in the manuscript and tables using numbers in square brackets, and the reference list must be ordered by first appearance.
Figures & Tables No more than 1 figure or table is allowed. Figures must not be embedded in the text and must be uploaded separately as TIFF files, while tables must be uploaded as one separate editable Word file. Figures must include captions and be clearly labeled and numbered, and tables must be provided as separate editable display items with their titles, descriptions, and footnotes included.
