Journal of Robotic Surgery is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing robotic surgery through cutting-edge research, technological developments, and clinical innovations. It publishes work on innovative equipment, new procedures, fine motor control, three-dimensional magnified imaging, and articulated instruments, with the aim of expanding minimally invasive surgery through technological advancement. The journal welcomes original research papers, clinical studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and technical notes.

Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved the submission, and confirm the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 150 to 250 words.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 4000 words. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, document any use of a large language model in the Methods section or suitable alternative section, and include a data availability statement describing how supporting original and reused secondary data can be accessed, including hyperlinks and persistent identifiers where available or an explanation if data cannot be shared openly.
References References are limited to 45. Citations must be numbered in square brackets in the text, and the reference list must be numbered consecutively and include only cited works that have been published or accepted for publication.
Figures & Tables No more than 6 figures and tables combined may be included. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, and large figures may be submitted separately only if the manuscript file is too large to upload. Figures and tables must be numbered with Arabic numerals and cited in consecutive numerical order, with figure captions included in the manuscript text file.

Review Articles

Cover Letter Cover letter is required. Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 150 to 250 words.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 10,000 words. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, a disclosure statement, a statement identifying who had the idea for the article, who performed the literature search and data analysis, and who drafted and/or critically revised the work, declarations such as Funding, Competing Interests, and Author Contributions before the references, and documentation of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References Reference list is limited to 100 references. Citations must use numbered references in square brackets. References must be numbered consecutively, include only cited works that are published or accepted for publication, and include full DOI links when available.
Figures & Tables Review Articles may include no more than 10 figures. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, and large figures should be submitted separately only if manuscript file size causes upload problems. Figures and tables must be numbered with Arabic numerals and cited in consecutive numerical order, with captions provided in the manuscript text file.

Abstract must include Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, and for health care intervention studies on human participants it must also include a Trial registration section with the registration number and date, adding 'retrospectively registered' when applicable.
Manuscript Manuscript must include Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and a Declarations section with the required subheadings. Manuscript must include 3 to 10 keywords, a disclosure statement, a data availability statement, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and documentation of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section or a suitable alternative section.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Citations must be numbered, web links and URLs must be included in the reference list with full details rather than in the text, and dataset identifiers including DOIs should be given as full URLs.
Figures & Tables Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, and tables smaller than one page may be placed in the manuscript while larger tables may be placed at the end of the document. Images must protect patient anonymity, figures and tables must not appear in footnotes, and table footnotes should use superscript lower-case letters or asterisks for significance values and other statistical data.

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Case presentation, and Conclusions, and it must include patient ethnicity.
Manuscript Manuscript must include Background, Case presentation, Discussion and Conclusions, and a Declarations section. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, all required Declarations subheadings with 'Not applicable' where irrelevant, and documentation of large language model use in the manuscript if applicable.
References References must follow Vancouver style. References must be cited by number, listed consecutively, include full DOI URLs where available, and any web links or URLs must appear as numbered references with the site title, full URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, with large figures submitted separately only if file size causes upload problems, and tables may be placed within the manuscript or at the end if large. Images must protect patient anonymity, must not show the patient’s name, medical record number, date of birth, or facial features, and should be cropped only to show the key feature.

Correspondence manuscripts must include three to ten keywords, an 'Availability of data and materials' statement, an Authors' contributions section using author initials to specify individual contributions, and declarations including competing interests and acknowledgements with 'Not applicable' where relevant.
References Correspondence may include a maximum of five references. References must follow Vancouver reference style. Reference citations must be numbered and presented in the reference list consecutively, and any web links or URLs must be assigned a reference number and given in full with the site title, URL, and access date.
