Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A concise and factual abstract is required. Abstract should be 300 words or less. Abstract should be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript must be less than 30 double-spaced pages including figures and tables. Manuscript must use clearly defined sections with appropriate subheadings including Methods, Results, and Discussion. The submission must include highlights of 3 to 5 bullet points in a separate editable file, a maximum of 6 keywords after the abstract, a competing interests statement, author contribution and final-approval statements, a funding statement, a short tweet summary of 100 to 280 characters, and an AI-use declaration before the references if generative AI was used.
References If a reference has three or fewer authors list all authors, if more than three list the first three followed by et al, and journal titles must use PubMed ISO abbreviations.
Figures & Tables No general limit on figures or tables is stated, but images with more than 6 panels should not be used. Illustrations, including the recommended Central Illustration, must be submitted as separate files rather than embedded in the manuscript. The Central Illustration is recommended and must be cited in the text as 'Central Illustration' with a separate legend, must not duplicate other figures, should use minimal text and color, and must meet the specified size and resolution requirements.
