Journal of the mechanical behavior of biomedical materials/Journal of mechanical behavior of biomedical materials

The Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials focuses on mechanical deformation, damage, and failure of biological materials and biomaterials under applied forces. It emphasizes the intersection of materials science, biology, and medical and dental science, publishing experimental and theoretical studies, technical notes, letters to the editor, invited review articles, and papers on existing techniques relevant to biomedical materials and mechanobiology.

Submission Instructions

Journal of the mechanical behavior of biomedical materials/Journal of mechanical behavior of biomedical materials accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Research Paper

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Research Paper submissions have no limit on the number of words, figures, or similar elements, but authors should be as succinct as possible. Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections, with the abstract excluded from section numbering. Manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, 3 to 5 highlights submitted as a separate Word file with each bullet no longer than 85 characters, a graphical abstract submitted separately, a declaration of competing interests, and an AI disclosure section before the references if generative AI was used in manuscript preparation.
References In-text citations must use author name and year. References may be submitted in any consistent style, but the reference list must be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically if needed.
Figures & Tables Research Paper submissions have no limit on the number of words, figures, or similar elements, but authors should be as succinct as possible. Tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, and figures must be supplied as separate files. Tables must be editable text with captions, and figures must each have a caption with any symbols or abbreviations explained.

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. The manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, and article highlights of 3 to 5 bullet points must be provided as a separate Word file no later than the final files stage, while any use of generative AI in manuscript preparation must be declared in a separate section before the references.
References References may be submitted in any consistent style, citations in the text must use author-year format, and the reference list must be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically if needed.
Figures & Tables Tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, while figures and other artwork must be uploaded as separate files. Tables must be editable text rather than images and include captions, and any use of generative AI to create manuscript images must be disclosed in each image caption.
