Articles

Cover Letter A covering letter is required with the submission. The covering letter must clearly state reasons for fast-track publication if fast-track publication is requested.
Abstract A semistructured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be semistructured in five paragraphs. Abstract headings must be Background, Methods, Findings, Interpretation, and Funding.
Manuscript Articles should be up to 3500 words, but randomised controlled trial Articles may be up to 4500 words. Manuscript must include a research in context panel, and reports of randomised trials must include a "Randomisation and masking" section within the Methods section. Manuscript must include a research in context panel without references, a declaration of interests at the end of the text, authors' contributions at the end of the manuscript, a funding acknowledgment at the end of the text, a "Role of the funding source" subheading at the end of the Methods section or as an acknowledgment if there is no Methods section, a data sharing statement at the end of the manuscript, and an acknowledgment statement disclosing any generative AI use in writing with the model name, version, exact prompt, and how and where it was used.
References Articles should have 30 references. References must use Vancouver numbering style. References must be cited sequentially in the text as superscript numbers after punctuation, journal names must use standard Index Medicus abbreviations, and references with seven or more authors must list the first three followed by et al.
Figures & Tables The manuscript must include tables and panels, and figures must be included with the submission. When reporting Kaplan-Meier survival data, numbers at risk must be included at each timepoint.

Cover Letter A covering letter is required.

References Reviews should have a maximum of 75 references. References must use Vancouver numbering style. Figures & Tables Use of up to 5–6 illustrations is encouraged. Submissions should include the manuscript including tables and panels and should include figures.
