Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published in the journal, explain any issues relating to journal policies, declare potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved the submission, confirm the content has not been published or submitted elsewhere, and name the special issue if applicable.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured with separate sections. Abstract must include the headings Background, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must include Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and a Declarations section. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, documentation of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section, and a Declarations section with all headings retained and marked 'Not applicable' where irrelevant.
References Only published, in-press, or publicly available preprint items may be cited, unpublished abstracts/data/personal communications must not appear in the reference list, web links and URLs must be numbered and included in the reference list in full with access dates, and journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE.
Figures & Tables Figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript, tables must be included in the main manuscript file, tables under one page may appear in place while larger tables may be placed at the end, and additional files must be cited in sequence in the text. Figures must be numbered in text order and multi-panel figures submitted as single composite files, while tables must be numbered and cited sequentially using Arabic numerals.

Review Articles

Abstract An abstract is required for Review Articles. The abstract must not exceed 350 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must include background, main body of the abstract, and short conclusion.
Manuscript The manuscript must include Background, main text body, Conclusions, and a Declarations section. The manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, required Declarations subsections with 'Not applicable' where irrelevant, and documentation of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References Only published, in-press, or publicly available preprint items may be cited in the reference list; unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear there; journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE; and web links or URLs must be assigned a reference number and included in the reference list with full site title, full URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables Figure titles and legends and all tables must be included in the main manuscript file, while figures are uploaded separately in the order first cited. Tables must not be submitted as figures, and previously published figures or tables require permission with the permission noted in the figure legend and the original source included in the reference list.

Manuscript must include a Declarations section with the headings Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and material, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, and Acknowledgements, with "Not applicable" used where a section is not relevant, and any use of a Large Language Model must be documented in the Methods section or another suitable part of the manuscript.
References Web links and URLs must be cited with a reference number in the reference list rather than in the text, only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, or public preprints may be cited, unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must be excluded from the reference list, and journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE.
Figures & Tables Figure titles and legends and all tables must be included in the main manuscript file, with tables placed in the text if under one page or at the end of the document if larger.
