Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must briefly describe the scientific or clinical importance of the manuscript, confirm that all authors have read the manuscript, identify the corresponding author, provide mailing address, telephone number, and email address for each author where possible, and state that there was no ghost writing by anyone not named on the author list.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must be up to 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Text must be up to 3700 words excluding abstract, legends, and references. Manuscript text must be arranged in the sequence title page, abstract, introduction, methods, data sharing, results, discussion, acknowledgment, authors' roles, financial disclosures of all authors for the preceding 12 months, references, video legend, figures, tables, and financial disclosures. If Artificial Intelligence Generated Content tools were used to develop any portion of the manuscript, their use must be described transparently and in detail in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
References References must be cited by number in the text and numbered in the reference list in citation order, with all authors listed for works with fewer than seven authors and the first three authors followed by et al. for works with seven or more authors.
Figures & Tables Tables and/or figures are limited to 5. Figures and tables must be uploaded as individual files and not included in the manuscript text.
