Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must confirm all authors have seen and approved the manuscript, disclose any conflict of interest, and explain why the manuscript is well suited to Neuropathology and Applied Neurobiology.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings aims, methods, results, and conclusions.
Manuscript The body text must not exceed 5000 words. The manuscript must include Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. The manuscript must include a key points box containing 3–5 bulleted key points, up to eight keywords, a list of abbreviations after the abstract, and disclosure of any substantial AI use.
References References must use AMA style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of appearance, with in-text citations given as numbered brackets inline and journal title abbreviations conforming to Chemical Abstracts practices.
Figures & Tables The total number of figures and tables must not exceed 8. Figures and tables should be supplied as separate files where possible. Figure legends must be provided in the manuscript as a complete list and added beneath each individual image during upload.

Manuscript Reviews must be no longer than 6000 words. The manuscript must include a title page, abstract, main body, references, and tables. The manuscript must include up to eight keywords, a list of abbreviations after the abstract, an acknowledgement section including author contributions, and a key points box with 3–5 bulleted key points.
References Reviews must not exceed 150 references. References must use AMA style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of appearance, with in-text citations given as numbered brackets inline, and journal title abbreviations conforming to Chemical Abstracts practice.
Figures & Tables The combined total number of figures and tables must not exceed 8. Figures and tables should be supplied as separate files where possible. Figure legends must be provided in the manuscript and beneath each uploaded image, and all figures must be numbered and cited in the order they appear.
