Original Research

Cover Letter The desired themed issue must be stated in the cover letter if the manuscript is intended for a specific themed issue.
Abstract Original Research articles must include a structured abstract. The abstract must be no more than 300 words. The abstract must be structured using the headings Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. The abstract must use the headings Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusion, describe the method and procedures, and must not include references.
Manuscript Original Research articles should be more than 3000 and no more than 6000 words. The manuscript body must be organized as Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. The manuscript should include 5-10 keywords, funding details, a disclosure of interest statement under the subheading "Disclosure of interest," a short biographical note for each author, and an AI-use acknowledgement where applicable.
References References must follow the journal's NLM reference style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited in square brackets, with the reference list presented in numerical order at the end of the article.
Figures & Tables Original Research articles may include up to 6 figures and up to 8 tables. Figures should be supplied as separate files from the text, tables must be supplied as editable files, and the manuscript text should clearly indicate where tables and figures should appear. Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively in the order first cited, and abbreviations used in figures or tables must be defined in the legend or footnotes.
