Nanotoxicology

Nanotoxicology publishes peer-reviewed research on the hazards, exposure, and risks associated with nano-structured materials during their life cycle. It welcomes studies on nanoparticles, nanomaterials, nanomedicines with a strong safety or toxicology component, nano-surfaces, nanocomposites, advanced materials, PM10 and PM2.5, and microplastics and nanoplastics, as well as work on mechanisms of toxicity, exposure, legislation, and regulation. The journal accepts original basic and clinical research articles, review articles including meta-analyses, short communications, letters to the Editor, comments, and data notes, operates single-anonymized peer review, and offers gold open access publication.

Submission Instructions

Nanotoxicology accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Research Article

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required.
Manuscript Research Articles should be no more than 15,000 words. Research Articles should be organized in the order of title page, abstract, keywords, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references, appendices as appropriate, tables with captions on individual pages, figures, and a list of figure captions. The manuscript should include 2 to 5 keywords and a disclosure statement including a generative AI use statement placed in the Methods or Acknowledgments section, and Research Articles must justify the selected test model(s), discuss physiological relevance to humans and study limitations, clearly report controls and sample size, outline the aim and hypotheses, and discuss the relevance of any characterization data taken from an existing publication.
References Citations must follow Chicago author-date style. The reference section must appear at the end of the main text under the heading “References,” include all cited works, be ordered alphabetically by first author surname, and each entry must include a corresponding in-text citation.
Figures & Tables Article-type-specific instructions place tables with captions on individual pages and figures with a separate list of figure captions after the references, overriding the general option to embed them in the text or submit them separately.
